The Franklin Institute - early American science and electricity exhibits

Founded in 1824, the Franklin Institute is one of the United States' oldest centers for the public study of science and technology. It houses long-running exhibits and collections about electricity and Benjamin Franklin's experiments, including the Benjamin Franklin National Memorial. The museum played a central role in popularizing electrical science and engineering to Philadelphia and national audiences in the 19th and 20th centuries.
