Cliff House has burned and been rebuilt multiple times

Many assume the current Cliff House structure is the original 19th‑century building, but the Cliff House near Lands End has existed in several different incarnations after fires and demolitions; the site’s buildings have been rebuilt and remodeled multiple times since the 1860s. The present building and nearby ruins reflect that layered history rather than continuous survival of a single original structure. Accounts of repeated reconstruction are part of the documented architectural history of the Point Lobos/Cliff House area.
