The San Diego Chicken (sports mascot and comic act)

The San Diego Chicken, also known as "The Famous Chicken," is a comedy-oriented sports mascot created and performed by Ted Giannoulas. The character debuted at San Diego Padres games at San Diego Stadium (later called Jack Murphy Stadium and Qualcomm Stadium) in 1974 and became nationally known for its comedic stunts and heckling. The Chicken's antics are a documented part of San Diego's sports-and-comedy history and have appeared at numerous local events and charity appearances over decades.
