Maxwell Chambers Suites

Maxwell Chambers Suites, located on Maxwell Road in Chinatown, Singapore, is a historic building that has undergone several transformations since its completion in 1930. Originally serving as the Police Barracks and later the Traffic Police Headquarters, it housed Singapore's first driving test center in 1941. After the Traffic Police vacated the premises in 1999, the building was repurposed as the Red Dot Design Museum in 2005, before being restored and reopened in 2019 as Maxwell Chambers Suites. The four-storey structure features unique architectural elements such as timber louvre windows, ornamental plasterwork, and open courtyards, making it an interesting site for tourists and researchers alike, reflecting Singapore's rich history and architectural heritage.
