Hollywood Theatre, historic independent movie palace

The Hollywood Theatre opened in 1926 on NE Sandy Boulevard as a Spanish Colonial–style movie palace and today operates as a nonprofit performing-arts cinema. It hosts repertory film screenings, premieres, classic-film series, and local film festivals while retaining much of its historic architecture and atmospheric interior. The theater is a longtime cultural landmark in Northeast Portland's Hollywood District.
