Gerding Theater at the Armory (Portland Armory)

The building known as the Armory was completed in 1891 as an Oregon National Guard armory and drill hall. After a major rehabilitation, the Armory reopened as a multi-arts venue that houses Gerding Theater and serves as a performance and exhibition space for contemporary arts organizations. The adaptive reuse preserved the historic masonry and large interior volumes while accommodating modern theater infrastructure.
