Hezekiah Alexander House archaeological findings

The Hezekiah Alexander House (circa 1774), operated by the Charlotte Museum of History, is the oldest surviving home in Mecklenburg County. Archaeological investigations on the museum property have recovered 18th- and 19th-century domestic artifacts and structural features associated with the Alexander family and later occupants. These findings have been used to inform period-accurate restoration and museum interpretation of plantation-era life in the Charlotte area.
