Hamilton Palace

Hamilton Palace, located in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, was a magnificent country house and the seat of the Dukes of Hamilton. Dating back to the 14th century, it underwent significant transformations, notably in the Baroque style in the late 17th century and further enhancements in the Neoclassical style during the 19th century. The palace was surrounded by expansive parks, including the Low Parks and High Parks, which featured notable structures like the Hamilton Mausoleum and Chatelherault Hunting Lodge. Renowned for its impressive art collections and libraries, Hamilton Palace hosted numerous social events and royal visits. Unfortunately, it was demolished between 1921 and 1932 due to structural issues caused by coal works beneath it, marking the end of an era for one of the grandest houses in the British Isles.
