African American Museum in Philadelphia

Founded in 1976, the African American Museum in Philadelphia (AAMP) was among the first U.S. museums dedicated to exploring African American history and culture. AAMP maintains exhibitions, educational programs, and a permanent collection of visual art and historical artifacts that interpret local, regional, and national African American experiences. The museum is located in Center City and partners with community and cultural institutions for public programming.
