Bushnell-Dickinson House

The Bushnell-Dickinson House, located at 170 Old Post Road in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, is a historic residence dating back to around 1790, showcasing Federal period architecture. This one-and-a-half-story wood-frame structure features a distinctive gambrel roof, central chimney, and clapboard exterior. Its elegant facade includes a central entrance flanked by fluted pilasters and a four-light transom window. The interior preserves original wide pine floors and period details, reflecting its historical significance. Once home to the Bushnell family, descendants of early settlers, the house remained in their lineage until 1934 and underwent a careful restoration in 1958. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, making it a noteworthy site for tourists and researchers interested in early American architecture and local history.
