Park Towers (South Melbourne)

Park Towers is a notable 31-storey public housing tower in South Melbourne, Victoria, completed in 1969. Once the tallest pre-cast load-bearing wall building globally, it garnered international acclaim from architects and was recognized as the best residential building in the municipality that year. Designed by Roy Prentice, its striking red and white colors pay homage to the local football team, the South Melbourne Swans. Currently managed by Homes Victoria, the tower houses 299 properties but faces challenges such as rising crime and maintenance issues, with plans for demolition by 2051.
