Wild Heron

Wild Heron is a historic plantation house located approximately 15 miles south of Savannah, Georgia, and is one of the oldest domestic structures in the state. Built between 1752 and 1756, it showcases typical 18th-century architectural styles and has significant ties to prominent figures from Georgia's Colonial and Revolutionary eras, including Francis Henry Harris. The plantation operated for over two centuries, primarily as a rice plantation, and has been carefully restored to maintain its historical character. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1977, Wild Heron offers visitors a glimpse into the rich agricultural history and architectural heritage of coastal Georgia.
