Whittemore's Tavern

Whittemore's Tavern is a historic building located at 473 Auburn Street in Auburndale, Newton, Massachusetts. Constructed around 1724, likely by early settler William Robinson II, this 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house served as a tavern in the 1760s when Auburn Street was a key thoroughfare. Its unique asymmetrical window placement hints at a construction process that occurred in stages. Although it is now a private residence, the tavern's historical significance is recognized by its listing on the National Register of Historic Places since 1986, making it an interesting site for tourists and researchers alike.
