Eliot Hall (Reed College)

Eliot Hall, the primary administrative building of Reed College in Portland, Oregon, is a historic structure designed by architect Albert Ernest Doyle and completed in 1912. Inspired by the architecture of St John's College, Oxford, it features Tudor and Collegiate Gothic elements. Originally named the Arts and Science Building, it was renamed in honor of Thomas Lamb Eliot in 1935, who played a crucial role in the college's founding. The building has undergone several remodels, including the relocation of its library and science departments, and was designated a Portland historic landmark in 1970. Eliot Hall houses a chapel with 10th-century architectural influences, used for various events, including lectures and weddings, making it a significant cultural and historical site for visitors and researchers alike.
