Château du Raincy

The Château du Raincy, built between 1643 and 1650 by architect Louis Le Vau for Jacques Bordier, was a magnificent Baroque castle located in Le Raincy, France. Surrounded by extensive gardens attributed to André Le Nôtre, the estate featured monumental stables and a vast park of 240 hectares. After changing hands multiple times, including a notable period under Princess Palatine and later Louis Philippe d'Orléans, the château underwent various renovations, including the introduction of English-style gardens. However, it fell into disrepair during the French Revolution and was ultimately demolished in 1819. Today, little remains of the original estate, but the site offers a glimpse into the opulence of 17th-century French nobility.
