Upton House, Newham

Upton House, located in the London Borough of Newham, was originally built in 1731 and is notable for being the birthplace of the renowned surgeon Joseph Lister in 1827. The house played a significant role in the local community when, in 1893, it served as the vicarage for a temporary church established in its gardens. Although the vicarage was demolished in the late 1960s, the site now features Joseph Lister Court, making it a point of interest for both tourists and researchers exploring the area's rich history.
