Swampscott Fish House

The Swampscott Fish House, located on Fisherman's Beach in Swampscott, Massachusetts, is the oldest active fish house in the United States, built in 1896. This historic shingle-style structure was established to consolidate various fishing buildings that previously cluttered the oceanfront, enhancing the area's appeal as a swimming destination. The Fish House also serves as the home of the Swampscott Yacht Club and the Swampscott Sailing Program, featuring a newly refinished porch and bar. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in maritime history.
