Withdrawal of Denver's 1976 Winter Olympics

The International Olympic Committee awarded Denver the 1976 Winter Olympics in May 1970. In 1972 Colorado voters rejected public funding for the games in a statewide referendum, leading Denver to withdraw as host. As a result, the IOC reassigned the 1976 Winter Olympics to Innsbruck, Austria.
