San Fernando Cathedral

San Fernando Cathedral, established in 1731 at Main Plaza, is one of the oldest continuously operating Catholic cathedrals in the United States and serves as the mother church of the Archdiocese of San Antonio. The cathedral is a long-standing site of public devotions and processions, including annual celebrations for Our Lady of Guadalupe. The building also contains remains that are claimed to be those of some Alamo defenders; that claim is historically debated.
