Charging Bull guerrilla installation

The bronze Charging Bull sculpture by Arturo Di Modica was installed without a permit in front of the New York Stock Exchange on December 15, 1989; it was later relocated to its current site near Bowling Green. The work was created by Di Modica as a piece of guerrilla art following the 1987 stock market crash and was embraced by city officials and the public. The bull has since become an iconic symbol associated with Wall Street and is a frequent subject of photography and commentary about the financial district.
