Selskabet Kjæden

Selskabet Kjæden, or The Society of the Chain, is a historic fraternal and philanthropic organization based in Copenhagen, Denmark, dedicated to supporting blind individuals since 1811. The society's building, located at Klerkegade 10, is a protected structure designed in the low Renaissance Revival style by architect Vilhelm Tvede. With roots tracing back to the 12th century, it was revived in 1774 and has a rich history of social philanthropy, including the establishment of the Royal Institute for the Blind in 1858. The society has also been involved in various charitable activities for the poor in Copenhagen since the early 19th century, making it a significant part of the city's cultural and social landscape.
