Goodwin House (Brookhaven, Georgia)

The Solomon Goodwin House, built in 1831, is a historic landmark located in Brookhaven, Georgia, just east of Atlanta. As the oldest standing building in DeKalb County, it reflects the region's early settlement history, having been established by Harris Goodwin, the first white settler in the area. Originally a log cabin, it was expanded into a Plantation Plain-style home in the early 1840s. The site also features a small graveyard where the Goodwin family is buried. The house served as a stop on the Atlanta and Charlotte Air Line Railway, highlighting its significance in transportation history. In 2011, the house was offered for relocation by its descendants, and in 2016, it was dismantled and moved, preserving its legacy for future generations.
