Frederick Douglass National Historic Site (Cedar Hill)

Cedar Hill, at 1411 W Street SE, was the home of abolitionist and statesman Frederick Douglass from 1877 until his death in 1895 and is preserved as the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site. The National Park Service maintains the house, outbuildings, and grounds and offers guided tours and exhibits about Douglass's life, writings, and public work. The site interprets Douglass's role in abolition, civil rights, and national politics and hosts public programs and educational events.
