Amex House, affectionately known as 'The Wedding Cake', was the former European headquarters of American Express in Brighton, England. Opened in 1977, this nine-floor building was notable for its unique design featuring glass-reinforced plastic panels, making it a distinctive part of the city's skyline. The structure served as a hub for American Express's European operations and was a significant employer in the area, contributing substantially to the local economy. After its demolition in 2017, plans for the site include a vibrant mixed-use development aimed at revitalizing the Carlton Hill area, promising new homes, workspaces, and jobs.
