Mystery Castle and its origin story

Mystery Castle, located in the South Mountain foothills at 800 E Mineral Rd, was constructed beginning in the 1930s by Boyce Luther Gulley using scavenged and donated materials over several decades. Gulley built the structure as a residence and workshop; after his death the property was opened to visitors and now offers tours. The castle's unconventional construction and Gulley's life story have made it a focal point of Phoenix legend and local folklore.
