Denver Art Museum (Gio Ponti North Building and Hamilton Building)

The Denver Art Museum's North Building, designed by Italian architect Gio Ponti and opened in 1971, is the only Ponti building in the Americas and is noted for its distinctive tile-clad exterior. In 2006 the Frederic C. Hamilton Building, designed by Daniel Libeskind, was added as an angular, contemporary expansion that reoriented the museum toward Civic Center Park. Together the two buildings present contrasting modernist and contemporary architectural statements on a single museum campus.
