Russ Building (early Financial District skyscraper)

The Russ Building, completed in 1927 at 235 Montgomery Street, is one of San Francisco's earliest high-rise office buildings and was long a visual anchor of the Financial District. Its setback massing and ornate lobby reflect pre-war commercial skyscraper design and it housed banking, legal, and professional firms for decades. The building is documented in histories of San Francisco's early 20th-century commercial architecture.
