Esders and Scheefhals building

The Esders and Scheefhals building, located at Moika Embankment 73-79 in Saint Petersburg, is a historic monument originally built as a department store in 1906-07. Designed by architects Konstantin de Rochefort and V.A. Lipskii, it served as a prominent trading house until 1919. After the Russian Revolution, it was repurposed as a sewing factory and later became known as the Volodarsky Sewing Factory. The building underwent significant renovations between 2011 and 2012, restoring its original signage and cupola. It now houses the luxury department store Au Pont Rouge, blending historical architecture with modern retail, making it an intriguing destination for tourists and researchers alike.
