Lovamahapaya

Lovamahapaya, also known as the Brazen Palace, is a historic temple located in the ancient city of Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka, between the Ruwanweliseya and Sri Mahabodiya. This remarkable structure, originally built by King Dutugemunu, was renowned for its nine stories and adorned with bronze tiles, corals, and precious stones. It featured 1600 stone pillars arranged in 40 rows, making it an architectural marvel of its time. Lovamahapaya served as a significant religious site where the Sangha gathered for Poya day rituals. Although the original building was destroyed, a smaller version now stands as a chapter house of the Maha Vihara, continuing its legacy as a place of worship and historical interest.
