Mexic-Arte Museum (official Mexican and Mexican-American art museum of Texas)

Founded in 1984 and located on Congress Avenue, the Mexic-Arte Museum presents Mexican, Latino, and Latin American art through rotating exhibitions and public programs. In 1988 the Texas Legislature designated Mexic-Arte as the official Mexican and Mexican-American fine art museum of Texas. The museum is known locally for its annual Día de los Muertos exhibitions and community altar competitions.
