Edes House

Edes House is a historic mansion located in Chichester, West Sussex, England, originally built in 1696 for maltster John Edes and his wife. This Grade I listed building served as the headquarters for West Sussex County Council from 1916 to 1936 and has a rich history, including ownership by notable families and artists. The house features a striking symmetrical design with a prominent central bay and has undergone several name changes throughout its history. Today, it serves as a venue for weddings and ceremonies, and it gained attention in 2018 when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited to view an original copy of the United States Declaration of Independence. The building also houses artworks, including watercolours by local artist George Herbert Catt.
