Shoshone-Episcopal Mission

The Shoshone-Episcopal Mission, located in Fort Washakie, Wyoming, is a historic site that served as a boarding school for Shoshone girls from 1889 to 1890. Founded by Rev. John Roberts, it aimed to educate girls from the Wind River Indian Reservation, many of whom traveled long distances to attend. The mission played a significant role in the community and later became the headquarters for the Episcopal mission on the reservation. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973 but tragically was destroyed by fire in 2016.
