Mayo Mansion

Mayo Mansion, located in Paintsville, Kentucky, is a historic estate built for entrepreneur John C.C. Mayo and completed in 1912. Designed by architect Herman Geisky, the mansion features 43 rooms and showcases unique construction challenges, including the use of locally sourced sandstone and innovative water and power systems for its time. After Mayo's death in 1914, the mansion changed hands several times and is now home to Our Lady of the Mountains School. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, making it a notable site for tourists and researchers interested in early 20th-century architecture and local history.
