Fort Independence ramparts on Castle Island

Fort Independence, the granite fortification on Castle Island, dates to 19th-century construction phases and its ramparts afford unobstructed views across Boston Harbor and back toward the city skyline. The fort sits at the tip of Castle Island and the adjacent promenade and seawalls are popular but relatively overlooked viewpoints for harbor and skyline observation. The site is managed by the City of Boston and is accessible to the public seasonally.
