Villa Jacoby

Villa Jacoby is a stunning example of 1920s Estonian architecture located at Wismari street 11, near the Old Town of Tallinn. Designed by the renowned Baltic-German architect Erich Roman Ludvig Jacoby as his personal residence, the villa showcases a unique blend of Baroque-style windows, expressionist influences, and traditional Estonian elements like a gable roof. Completed in 1924, the building reflects the architectural conservatism of its time, with features reminiscent of 17th and 18th century Baroque styles. Notable elements include white-washed roof ridges and Baroque door hinges, along with a historical lintel stone that dates back to 1596, now housed in the Tallinn City Museum. The villa has served various purposes over the years, including communal living during the Soviet period and as an office for a political party until 2011. It is recognized as a building monument, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in Estonia's architectural heritage.
