Plaza on DeWitt

The Plaza on DeWitt is a notable condominium building located at 260 E. Chestnut Street in Chicago's Streeterville neighborhood. Completed in 1966, it was the first structure in the world to utilize tubular construction, a technique later adopted for the World Trade Center. Originally named the DeWitt-Chestnut Apartment Building and designed by renowned engineer Fazlur Rahman Khan, the 43-story tower features 407 residences clad in elegant travertine marble. Visitors can enjoy traditional French cuisine at the ground-floor bistro, Le Petit Paris. The building has a history marked by significant incidents, including two tragic fires in 2002 and 2009 that resulted in fatalities and injuries.
