Avondale (Westminster, Maryland)

Avondale is a historic Georgian-style home located in Westminster, Maryland, built around 1796. This impressive 2+1⁄2-story brick house features a distinctive Palladian window above its entrance and includes a two-story wing. Recognized for its historical significance, Avondale was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. The surrounding community has roots dating back to 1765 when an iron foundry was established by settler Leigh Master, who utilized slave labor in its operation.
