Jenkinstown Castle

Jenkinstown Castle, located in County Kilkenny, Ireland, is a historic country house originally designed by William Robertson and built for Sir Patrick Bellew in the late 18th century. Despite its initial grandeur, the structure faced significant structural issues, leading to a partial collapse and subsequent restoration efforts by architect Charles Frederick Anderson. The house remained in the Bellew family until the 1930s, after which it fell into disrepair. Recent restoration efforts from 2013 to 2014 have revitalized the manor, incorporating materials from the original building, and the chapel has been transformed into an auditorium. Notably, the poet Thomas Moore composed 'The Last Rose of Summer' while staying at the castle in 1805, adding a literary significance to this historic site.
