Højbygaard Sugar Factory

Højbygaard Sugar Factory, established between 1872 and 1874 in Holeby, Denmark, was one of the first modern sugar factories in the country, pivotal to the sugar beet industry. After operating until 1959, it transitioned to a paper mill until 1993. The site, recognized as a National Industrial Site in 2009, has been revitalized into a multifunctional complex featuring offices, a hotel, and a conference center known as Factory Lodge, along with the Visual Climate Center, which focuses on climate and environmental education.
