Jesse Tay House

The Jesse Tay House, located at 51 Elm Street in Stoneham, Massachusetts, is a well-preserved example of Federal style architecture, built around 1810. This historic two-story wood-frame house features a side-gable roof, asymmetrically placed chimneys, and a distinctive four-bay facade with irregular window placements. Visitors can admire its charming entrance, which is sheltered by a portico with a pedimented gable and square posts. The house also includes ell extensions, possibly used for shoe manufacturing by Jesse Tay, a farmer and shoemaker. Recognized for its historical significance, the house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984, making it an interesting stop for tourists and researchers alike.
