The Lone Sailor statue at the U.S. Navy Memorial

The US Navy Memorial plaza features the bronze Lone Sailor statue, created by sculptor Stanley Bleifeld, as its central installation honoring U.S. sea service members. The memorial plaza also includes the Navy Log and a plaza wall listing Medal of Honor recipients and is the site of regular ceremonies and wreath-laying events. The memorial is located on Pennsylvania Avenue near the National Mall and is administered by the U.S. Navy Memorial Foundation in cooperation with federal authorities.
