Z. D. Ramsdell House

The Z. D. Ramsdell House, located in Ceredo, West Virginia, is a historic home built between 1857 and 1858, notable for its Greek Revival architecture and its connection to the Underground Railroad. This two-story brick and frame dwelling, measuring 30 by 48 feet, is situated atop a mound believed to be an Indian burial site. Zophar D. Ramsdell, the house's namesake, was an influential figure in the community, contributing to local industry and serving in various public roles, including as a Captain during the Civil War. The house is now a museum, offering visitors a glimpse into its rich history and significance in the abolitionist movement. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 and is maintained by the Town of Ceredo.
