Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI) - Klondike and promotional tall tales

MOHAI’s collections and exhibits on Seattle’s late-19th-century growth include material on the Klondike Gold Rush and the promotional stories and tall tales used to attract prospectors, businesses, and investors. The museum holds period photographs, advertisements, and personal accounts that document both factual developments and the mythmaking surrounding Seattle’s boom years. MOHAI’s South Lake Union building opened in 2012 and continues public programs that examine how folklore and exaggeration shaped the city’s image.
