Mission Concepción's original 18th-century murals

Mission Concepción (Nuestra Señora de la Purísima Concepción de Acuña) contains original 18th-century mural paintings and fresco fragments on its interior church walls that are among the oldest unrestored mural artworks in the United States. The mission, founded in 1731 and now part of San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, is set along Mission Road and can be easy to miss compared with more prominent tourist stops. The surviving murals are documented by historians and conservators as significant examples of Spanish colonial mission art.
