Nautical Chart Department (Sweden)

The Nautical Chart Department, located on Skeppsholmen in central Stockholm, is a historic building constructed between 1871 and 1872. Originally designed by Victor Ringheim, it has undergone several modifications, including a height increase in 1910 and an extension in the late 1930s. This site was once home to the tavern Tuppen, celebrated in Swedish literature. The Department initially stored nautical charts before the establishment of the Swedish Maritime Administration in 1956. It later served as the Museum of Architecture from 1966 to 1993 and currently hosts Designforum Svensk Form, showcasing Swedish design.
