Kubota Garden - hidden 20-acre Japanese garden

Kubota Garden is a 20-acre Japanese-American garden in south Seattle created beginning in 1927 by landscape gardener Fujitaro Kubota. Situated in the Rainier Beach neighborhood, the garden's layered paths, ponds, and stonework are set within a residential area and can be easy to miss from surrounding streets. The site is maintained by Seattle Parks and a nonprofit friends group and is documented as a unique example of Japanese-influenced landscape design in the city. Visitors often describe it as a tucked-away oasis compared with Seattle's more prominent parks.
