Uniontown Academy

Uniontown Academy, located in Uniontown, Carroll County, Maryland, is a historic school building constructed in 1851, replicating an earlier structure from 1810. This one-story brick building features a unique 'false' front design influenced by traditional Dutch styles. It served as an English-speaking school in a predominantly German community and is now operated as an inn and restaurant, retaining many of its original outbuildings. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, the Academy was donated by Maud Haines to serve as a community building and museum, leading to the establishment of Historic Uniontown, Inc. for its restoration.
