Gruwell and Crew General Store

The Gruwell and Crew General Store, built in 1894, is one of the oldest structures in West Branch, Iowa. Originally serving as a music store, harness shop, and variety store, it was transformed into a museum by the West Branch Heritage Foundation in 1964. The building retains its original false-front facade and wooden interior, making it a significant part of the West Branch Commercial Historic District. However, it is currently listed as one of the most endangered sites by Preservation Iowa due to its deteriorating condition.
