U.S. Capitol breach and arrests on January 6, 2021

On January 6, 2021, a crowd breached the United States Capitol building, entering the chambers and other offices and clashing with law enforcement. Law enforcement made arrests at the Capitol that day, and subsequent federal investigations resulted in hundreds of arrests and criminal charges nationwide connected to the attack. The breach interrupted a joint session of Congress convened to certify the Electoral College vote.
