Charles Piggott House

The Charles Piggott House, also known as Piggott's Castle, is a unique Romanesque Revival-style building located in southwest Portland, Oregon. Constructed in 1892 by local brick manufacturer Charles Henry Piggott, it is notable for its castle-like architecture, featuring eleven-foot ceilings, a crenellated parapet, and a distinctive tower room. Originally named 'Gleall Castle' after Piggott's children, the house faced economic challenges shortly after its completion and was converted into apartments in 1934. Recognized for its architectural significance, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, making it a fascinating site for tourists and researchers interested in Portland's history and unique architectural heritage.
